Crestron QM RMCRX Ethernet Control System

The Crestron QM-RMCRX combines a 2-Series Ethernet control system with a QuickMedia receiver, digital audio processor, and stereo amplifier to provide a cost-effective solution for AV signal routing and control as part of a complete MediaManager AV presentation system.

From any QuickMedia Wall Plate, FlipTop Box, or Distribution Center, the QM-RMCRX receives RGB, video, and multi-channel digital audio over a single inexpensive CAT5e or CAT6 cable* via Crestron's exclusive QuickMedia transport. Mounted at the projector or plasma display location, the Crestron QM RMCRX Ethernet Control System breaks out each media signal to its respective format to feed the AV inputs on the display device.

Composite video, S-Video, and RGBHV outputs deliver high-quality video and high resolution computer graphics to the display device. Signal routing occurs automatically under the command of the control system based upon the input source type selected.

The QuickMedia transport supports the transmission of RGB signals with resolutions up to 1600 X 1200 pixels at 60Hz. Software-controllable frequency, bandwidth, and skew compensation adjustments are provided to maximize image quality over cable runs up to 300 feet long with up to 15 nS of skew delay.

In addition to video and RGB, the QuickMedia transport carries four channels of 24-bit digital audio comprising a stereo program audio signal and two discrete microphone signals. Within the QM-RMCRX, each of the two incoming microphone signals is processed by an independent 4-band speech-optimized graphic equalizer. The stereo program signal and both equalized mic signals are then fed to three independent 4X1 mixers, each of which is fully adjustable to determine the mix for one of the QM-RMCRX's three audio output channels. The three channels are ordinarily configured to support discrete stereo program and mono speech outputs, although any mix of signals is possible.

The three unbalanced line-level outputs can be connected directly to inputs on the display device or used to feed external powered loudspeakers or a separate amplifier. The program signal also feeds an internal 20 watt stereo amplifier built into the Crestron QM RMCRX Ethernet Control System to directly drive a pair of 4 or 8 ohm loudspeakers.

Each output channel includes adjustments for volume, bass, and treble, a mute control, and a versatile 12-band parametric/graphic equalizer. In addition, the speech output includes up to 40mS of delay adjustment for loudspeaker alignment.

With such extensive control over the system's audio performance, the QM-RMCRX effectively eliminates the need for expensive outboard processors to attain precise adjustment tailored to the acoustical environment. All audio processing and mixing is performed in the digital domain, adjustable at setup using Crestron's Design Media Tools (DMT) software. Many parameters are also controllable in real-time from a keypad or touchpanel, with numerous presets that can be saved for instant recall to account for varying source material or room conditions.

The Crestron QM RMCRX Ethernet Control System includes two bidirectional RS-232 ports and one IR/Serial port to provide full control of the display device and a wide array of other devices. In addition, four digital input ports provide for direct connection to room occupancy sensors and power sensors.

At the heart of the QM-RMCRX is the powerful 2-Series control engine, which can be configured to serve as the master control system for an entire MediaManager system or as a slave device communicating with other Crestron components via Cresnet or Ethernet. The built-in high-speed Ethernet port and Web server provide full connectivity and e-control support for extensive IP-based control capability, remote programming and diagnostics, and seamless integration into control networks of any size. All MediaManager products are designed to work closely with Crestron's powerful RoomView AV Room Management Software, delivering the industry's best help desk control, monitoring and scheduling solutions.
